[ ELIGIBILITY ]

WHO YOU CAN COVER

Confirm eligibility for yourself and any dependents you want to cover, and when you can make changes.

Who's eligible?

All regular full-time, non-union employees are eligible.

You may also enroll your eligible dependents, including:

  • Your legal spouse
  • Your children under age 26 — biological, step, adopted or foster children
When does coverage start?

Open Enrollment: Your benefits begin on January 1 following Open Enrollment.

New Hire Enrollment: Your benefits begin on your hire date or the date you become a full-time employee.

When do I enroll?

If you are newly eligible, you must enroll within 30 days from your hire date or the date you become full-time. Your next opportunity to make election changes is during the annual Open Enrollment Period.

Automatic enrollment

Open Enrollment: Your current elections will automatically roll over, including your HSA contributions. FSA contributions do not roll over from year to year.

New Hire Enrollment: If you don’t complete your enrollment within your 30-day enrollment window, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the HSA Green Plan with Employee-Only coverage and the Tobacco Surcharge.

When can I make changes?

Once you enroll, your choices are locked in until the end of the calendar year.

But, there are certain times when you can change benefits during the year. These are called “major life events.” They include:

  • Getting married or divorced
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Your spouse gaining or losing their job
  • You gaining or losing work hours and the change affects your eligibility
  • Your dependents losing eligibility
  • You gaining or losing Medicaid or Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

You must make changes within 30 days (60 days for Medicaid and CHIP) from the event; your changes will be retroactive back to the date of event.

Life event changes for birth or adoption that are submitted between days 31 and 60 will be processed but coverage won’t be retroactive back to the date of the event.

Your life event changes must match the actual event. For example: If you adopt a child, you may enroll them in coverage, but you may not drop your spouse from coverage.
